About the event
If there's a silver lining after the parade shooting, it's that more and more actionable conversations are happening on how to reduce violent crime in Kansas City. There is no simple answer, but one thing is certain: it's going to take all of us. That means you and me as well.
We're doing this quarterly conversation differently this time, and for good reason; we have too many leaders to fit on one panel. Instead, this event will have "pods," or circles of chairs with a leader in each group. You'll be able to sit directly with the leader of your choice, although I recommend rotating throughout the room to hear from them all.
The list is growing, but as of now, the following leaders have agreed to come and share their views and strategies from their areas of expertise.
- Major Marisa Barnes of the KCPD
- Federal Judge Stephen Bough
- KC Common Good's CEO Klassie Alcine
- Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker
- United Way of KC CEO Chris Rosson
- Lyrik's Institution CEO Kyle Hollins
- Johnny Waller Jr and Uncornered
As you know by now, LIFTKC's mission is to move Kansas City "Forward and Better. Because when we know our neighbors, we won't let them fail."
Hope to see you there.
